Golden Harvest Parade
Participant waivers
FAQ
- Should I register through the Golden Harvest site?
- No — register through Little Saigon Krewe first. Clubs can register with Golden Harvest on their own. Golden Harvest’s 2026 guidelines ask for at least 20 people per marching group (300 max), and parade registration is due Tuesday, October 20, 2026. Our job is to combine smaller groups so the combined headcount meets that minimum.
- Do we file Golden Harvest’s waiver separately?
- No. The cPALSs Portal waiver is Golden Harvest’s 2026 Waiver and Release Form, so each marcher signs once — adults for themselves, parents or guardians for high schoolers and other minors — digitally by Friday, October 23. Any late waivers must be printed and brought in person Saturday morning. We pass the signed waivers to Golden Harvest. The one other thing Golden Harvest needs from every team is a sign carrier: one person who carries the Golden Harvest team name sign at the front of your group and returns it to the registration desk after the parade.
- Is transportation provided?
- No. Groups arrange their own ride — drive, carpool, or take SacRT on their own. Little Saigon Krewe is not running a bus or a staffed light-rail escort. SacRT is free on parade day, though: print or screenshot Golden Harvest’s free-ride flyer (linked under Transit) and show it to the bus operator or light-rail fare inspector. It’s good Saturday, October 24, 9:00 AM–6:30 PM, and one flyer covers a group traveling together.
- Do we have to perform?
- No — performing is optional. Many groups simply march behind their Golden Harvest team sign. If you do want to perform, there are two different options: a short performance during the parade, or a longer main-stage slot at the festival afterward. See the next question.
- What’s the difference between a parade performance and a stage performance?
Parade performance — during the march. Once your group passes the start line, you can dance or perform as you go. Each group gets one stop, in front of the parade stage, for 1 minute at most — any longer and the groups behind you get stuck. Don’t stop elsewhere on the route for photos; take group photos during staging.
Stage performance — a separate 5–10 minute slot on the festival main stage after the parade, for groups Golden Harvest selects. The stage is 24 × 36 ft at ground level on rubber mats, not a raised riser. To be considered, check Stage Performance on the Golden Harvest registration form and fill in performance type, number of performers, and program length. Stage registration is due Thursday, October 1, 2026.
- Are there changing rooms?
- No. Golden Harvest does not provide changing rooms. Plan to arrive dress-ready. There is space on Capitol Mall for practice and warm-up before step-off.
- Is there a dress code?
- No required uniform, but Golden Harvest requires apparel suitable for all ages. The parade is televised, so dress in a way that shows your club or group identity (colors, shirts, a banner if you have one, traditional wear if you like). Costume OK; traditional optional. Mornings can be a bit chilly — bring a light jacket for check-in and staging. We don’t have lockers to store jackets once we start marching, so arrange for someone to look after them.
- What’s not allowed in the parade?
- Golden Harvest’s rules: no sharp equipment, fireworks, or anything that could hurt someone. Don’t throw anything along the route. No inappropriate language or behavior. Floats, vehicles, and trailers must be under 40 ft long, 10 ft wide, and 13.5 ft tall, be insured, and have licensed drivers. Motorcycle groups need at least 10 motorcycles. Groups that don’t follow the guidelines can be removed from the parade.
- Do we need a banner?
- No — banners are optional. Golden Harvest gives every group a team name sign, and that sign leads your group on the route. Pick one person to carry it at the front of your group and return it to the registration desk after the parade. If your club already has a banner, you’re welcome to bring it too.
